I've been trying to do more editorial type of work and trying to find a vocabulary between graphic work and realistic work, shit's hard. I've been moving into more cartoony stuff that I will post in the future and have been in a rutt with concept work. Though seeing my peers do some pretty great concept work has been inspirational.

  1. When I think about graphic design work I think about how in graphic design you can use simple forms to convey a message, and so it's interesting to me how you used these large shapes to imply the sky and buildings, but not in a way that's really clean that makes me think of like the cleanliness of graphic design, but this textural illustrative quality. I mean, I don't really know if that's what you meant by vocabulary btw graphic & realistic work.

I wonder if you switched values between the sky and the buildings how it might work because the woman's face has lots of dark values, and because the sky is so dark, it makes the piece very top heavy. Or maybe if the buildings were darker. I don't really know, don't mind me.
